You Deserve to Love Your Body - Screw the Media - BE YOU

Updated: Jan 2, 2023

61% of adults feel negative about their bodies most of the time.

The way you see yourself has a lot to do with how you feel about your body. If you are constantly putting yourself down, it's time for a change. Here are some tips on how to improve the way you see your appearance and boost your body confidence.

Stop Comparing Yourself to Others

One of the most damaging things you can do to your self-esteem is to compare yourself to others. Whether it's comparing your body to the models in magazines or celebrities on TV, or comparing your life to your friends' social media posts, it's important to remember that everyone is different. Rather than focus on what you don't have, focus on what makes you unique. When you learn to love yourself for who you are, you'll be much happier and more confident.

I know that if I compare myself to others, it does me no favours, I am me, warts and all and it genuinely brings me down.

Curating my Insta and my socials with body-positive people I recommend Rachel Peru, Lucy Spraggan and Vicky Pattinson to name just a few of the better people you can follow to feel good. Ones who call out the crap we are fed - like the headline-grabbing 'Heroin Chic is back'.

Dress for Your Body Type

Another way to boost your body confidence is to dress for your body type. If you are pear-shaped, look for clothing that accentuates your waist and shows off your curves. If you are plus-size, look for clothing that makes you feel comfortable and stylish. And if you are petite, look for clothing that doesn't overwhelm your frame. There is no "right" way to look, so wear whatever makes you feel good.

Invest in yourself, speak to a stylist, get a personal shopper who can support you. Don't follow fashion. If heroin chic *sigh - is really back, the clothes that will be made will support a very slender frame. If you are butt and boobs - these clothes won't suit you. You might not suit the latest styles from Pretty Little Boohoo, or whatever. But you will feel great in your clothes.

Focus on Your Strengths

We all have things that we don't like about our appearance, but it's important to focus on your strengths as well. Maybe you don't like your nose, but you have great eyes. Or maybe you don't like your thighs, but you have a killer smile. Whatever it is, make sure to focus on the things that make you feel good about yourself. When you do this, you'll be much more confident in your own skin - and dress those areas. I can honestly tell you that people are so focussed on themselves that they don't notice how big your nose is, how small your boobs are, or if you have one eyebrow higher than the other.

Loving yourself is not vanity – it's sanity! If you want to improve the way you see yourself, start by stopping the comparison game, dressing for your body type and focusing on your strengths! When you do this, you'll be well on your way to boosting your body confidence and loving the skin you're in!

You are perfect, the more you can be confident in you, you can pass this to your friends, family and children. Creating a world of happy people who are grateful and satisfied with their amazing bodies.
